There is always one time of year where it seems all the people in the world go crazy and no I am not
talking about Christmas. I am talking about bathing suit season. This is when gyms get packed beyond capacity, where you see people trying to diet and trying to slim down. Most people try to slim down during this time of year because a lot of us are self-conscious of being in a bathing suit. This is more geared towards women, as they do this the most but it does affect men as well. Let's face it, women want to look good in a bathing suit and with Hollywood actresses and models, they feel they need to look a certain way in a bathing suit. What a handful of younger adults do when it comes to "slimming down" is starve themselves, this is a very unhealthy, dangerous approach to slimming down.

If you want to slim down, you need to do cardio. Cardio will burn fat, and help you drop the extra winter weight you may have packed on. You also want to lift, before doing your cardio so you can burn more fat and calories. Slimming down is not the easiest thing because it's a temporary thing. Making weight loss and staying in shape should be a life style, an everyday thing for people. However, this is not the case and this is why we find our gyms packed with people a month or two before bathing suit season.

Some effective things to do to help you slim down is stop drinking sugary drinks. No soda, fruit juice, coffee, tea or alcohol. Drink tons of water instead, as this is a lot healthier for you. Stop snacking on chips, cookies and ice cream because it will not help you. It is best to count your calories to see what your normal intake is, then start working on trying to lower that number down in a healthy way.

You will see ads for losing weight in 30 days or less. Let me be the first to say, forget it. It doesn't really work like you think it is going to work. You need to work out and eat healthy. Red meat should also be cut down a lot when it comes to slimming down. You want to eat more chicken and fish because they are healthier meats. You also want to eat more fruits, salads and veggies. It is recommended to cook your own food so you know what is going into your body instead of going out to restaurants and having them add extra things such as salt. You do not want to eat too late at night, because you don't want food sitting in your stomach while you are sleeping. Sleeping is when your metabolism is the slowest. Eating a big breakfast can help jump start your metabolism because the food will get your body going. Not only that but try and do a little exercise in the morning after breakfast, nothing crazy, but maybe a short run to get your heart rate up. In the afternoon you can do an actual workout where you can burn the most calories. Cutting out sugar filled drinks alone, will help a great deal. Just make sure you diet and exercise to slim down.
